Some wedding days are years in the making. And some… happen in less than a week.
McKenzie and Justin’s elopement was the kind of story that reminds me why I love what I do so much—because sometimes, the most meaningful days aren’t the most planned… they’re the most felt.
McKenzie and Justin reached out to me from Georgia on a Monday and she said “Hey, we’re eloping in Fort Worth on Friday – are you available?” Me – “Absolutely!!”
There wasn’t a long timeline. No drawn-out planning process. Just two people who wanted to be married and didn’t want to wait. They chose a Tarrant County Courthouse elopement for its timeless architecture and simplicity, and honestly… it couldn’t have been more perfect for them.

There’s something really grounding about courthouse weddings. No distractions, no pressure to perform. No expectations beyond just being present with each other.
For McKenzie and Justin, the day felt calm, intentional, and incredibly personal. It was spontaneous and everything that was planned fell perfectly into place; like it was meant to be. It was a steady, quiet excitement.

We walked around the courthouse, found the best light, and let the moments unfold naturally. A few gentle prompts here and there, but mostly just space for them to be themselves. We had a small hiccup with the appointment but it all worked out! They were laughing, holding onto each other, and taking it all in before we walked in before the judge.

Once we got into the courtroom, the nerves came for both of them. The judge was so kind though and had such a sweet, intentional conversation with them before proceeding. And in just a few minutes, they were husband and wife! Simple and sweet in the best way.

Days like this are a reminder that weddings don’t have to look one specific way. They can be big, full celebrations—or they can be quiet, last-minute decisions that turn into something unforgettable.
As a photographer, my role stays the same either way:
And McKenzie and Justin’s day was exactly that. It was real, simple, and full of joy. Their hearts were so full and as a wedding photographer, that overflows my heart. Her and I exchanged some tears after everything because we were both just SO happy. It’s moments like this and people like them that make me fall even more in love with my job.

If you’re dreaming about a courthouse elopement in Fort Worth, here’s your sign that it can be:
Whether you’re planning months ahead or pulling it together in a week like these two—you deserve a day that feels right.

Such a beautiful presentation for a beautiful day. I feel like I was there with them.
Taylor is passionate about her photography, and it shows. I know that you’re going to be jealous, but she’s our family photographer, and my beautiful niece.
Give her a call. She’s that good.
